How does upgrades work? :)

1. build -> 2. upgrade = fail?

Will upgrading structures also upgrade my existing structures, or does it only apply to the new structures i build?

For example, if i build a Temple of Communion, and afterwards buy the Zealous Worship upgrade, it won't be upgraded, because the upgrade only applies to the new buildings. Is this a bug, and if it's not, does it apply to ALL upgrades, structures and ships?

as far as I know, ALL research applies to all structures/ships that they effect whether they have been built or ARE built afterwards

The research immeadiately applies to everything it affects instantly upon completion, and yes, it is retroactive.

EDIT: If you are noticing something not getting upgraded when the research completes (that should be receiving the upgrade), move the mouse, wait a moment or two, and then move the mouse back over to get a new tooltip. Sometimes the game seems to take a moment to refresh itself in that manner... it can be quite vexxing when waiting for a Phase Stabilizer to show itself as active in a grav well -_-.

For hull upgrades, only the maximum HP is increased immediately - current HP has to be repaired or regenerated up to the new maximum. The same applies for shield and AM upgrades.

I tried to do the same thing as Itharus suggested, but the culture spread was still the same after the upgrade (according to the tooltip). If i try destroy the building and build a new one, the tooltip shows the correct culture spread. :s

i wonder if this is reproducable...

and i wonder if frogboy has something that notifys him when i use his name in the forums. so that he may come running and shed some light on the issue (or any dev )
