Can't Install Dragon Age through Impulse

By Posted November 4, 2009 07:57:47

I've downloaded the .impulse file. It's 7.85 GB in my archive folder. When I click install, and pick my install location on my drive with 80GB free, Impulse just tries to download the entire 7.85 GB again. What gives?

tmizas,

You must use the "Restore archive..." function and not the Install function.  Install will always do a fresh download and install.

Blackoth,

Security software can wreak havoc on any type of downloads.  If you have any security software running (antivirus, anti-spyware, etc) please either disable it during the download or make an exception for Impulse downloads.  Making exceptions in your security software would have to include monitoring the download directory (the Temporary directory) and also any urls that Impulse may be using to get your download.

If this doesn't work, please contact support@stardock.com for assistance.

I had the same problem.  I'm glad to hear about the restore archive function, although I wish that I would have known BEFORE I spent two days downloading Dragon Age and then had to restart all over again.  Which, I should mention, is something that I generally don't expect from Stardock.    In general, the Dragon Age download has been especially problematic.  This is something that I have never experienced before with any of my Impulse games.
