Galciv II ultimate edition, substanstial bug.

By Posted September 7, 2009 15:50:00

So i've got Galactic Civilizations II Ultimate Edition, my computer is in fact a beast. Nvidia 9600 GT, windows XP, good sound, everythings good but when i start a game on galciv, it starts and creation. After choosing my race the little picture of the ship in the lower-rigth flips around, and glitches really fast. when i get to the game, if i move my mouse to the edge to move around it goes to the midst of black space, so i have to click on the mini-map to move. this is highly annoying and detracts from the overall enjoyment of the game substantially, is there a solution to said problem?

Right then, still waiting for an answer.

have you tried reinstalling the game, lowering the mouse sensitivity, or reinstalling your drivers?

I can say that this is a problem not shared by everyone - I bought GalCiv2 ultimate just a week ago and has seen nothing of this, so taking a look at drivers / settings might be an idea, as Valiard suggests.

(I actually have a similar PC to what you report - 9600 GT graphic card, xi-fi soundblaster platinum, and windows XP.. although calling it a beast is a bit of an exaggeration. . If you have the very newest Nvidia drivers, I've run into some problems with those, so you might want to backtrack to 190.63.

A slow ass beast perhaps lol.

Check  your graphics and mouse drivers.  Also that your set resolution is not larger than the monitor's native resolution.  The last one is not applicable if your monitor is a 15" CRT beast.  It only might work for the plan TFT/LCD monitors.

It is funny he calls it a beast and he is still running an o/s from what seven years ago. He hasnt posted back so I take it his problem has resolved itself. If so can you post back to say how you resolved it for future ref incase anyone else has the same problem

Windows XP was first released on October 25, 2001, so almost precisely 8 years ago. Fun fact of the day.

So if this was 2001, he would be using DOS 6.22+ Windows 3.1   nice
