The Millionaire's Club

By Posted March 30, 2009 15:32:18

I'm not sure if this has been done.  A thread to list those who have broken a million points in a GalCiv2 game.  This isn't meant to be a top 10 or whatever,  just a list of millionaires.  In alphabetical order (by first name, if applicable).

I'll update the op as people post their games.

I'll start the list from memory.  Even if you're already on the list, please post a screenie of a 1mil+ game.

Congrats my furry rodent friend!  It was always just a matter of time.

Very well done Snark.  Congratulations.

Do you now wish your handle was AAASnarkotamus as i did mine to be AAAAjacklv?  Now, for a millennium that rascal ClanLindsey will have top billing.

Now that you mention it, I am past due for a name change. I think AureliusSnarkonius will do for a time.

I am in the midst of my best game ever, and I wanted to post this to see how it compares to the other members of the Millionaires Club.  This is my score at the end of Year 2:

Taking it to 6 years, I think I should end up with 1.4 or 1.5 million.  By far my best game!

Congrats, indeed!

Was there any specific thing(s) that has (have) made this one higher scoring?

Part luck & part skill.   The luck part was my earliest econ boom ever on Nov 1 of Year 1.  The skill part was refining the Swindle strategy further.  I do things differently than most people, because my computer cant handle the "massive upgrade" approach, even though I upgraded my RAM.  I think I've finally got it where I'd like it to be.  I didnt do it entirely alone of course though, many thanks to my fellow Kzinti and a few others who helped along the way over the past year.  [e digicons][/e]

Congrats, Snarkotamus!  I knew you could do it!  [e digicons][/e]

Your name has been added in lights in the op.

In other news, I humbly ask KzintiPatriarch to copy the name list and start a new millionaire thread.  I don't visit any Stardock site very often and only stumbled back here for no particular reason.

I'm probably through with Stardock for the long run and don't want to have those who make it to this benchmark to feel left out.

A fond farewell to all.  [e digicons][/e]

Sorry to hear you're leaving Motti.  You've been one of the best players in the game, and your presence will surely be felt.  We'll miss your soul-devouring ways and acerbic wit.   I'll start a new Millionaire thread so that new members wont be left out.  See you on FB and Mafia Wars...

Sure you dont want to stick around for Elemental: War of Magic?

I created a new thread to replace this one.

I do things differently than most people, because my computer cant handle the "massive upgrade" approach, even though I upgraded my RAM.
I have taken to maintaining subsets of "generic hull" designs.

Instead of building 900 "small hull fighters" (or whatever) I build 300 Small_Hull_1a, 300 Small_Hull_1b, 300 Small_Hull_1c.

Then I can upgrade the  Small_Hull_1 design to Small_Hull_2 in increments. Takes 3 turns instead of one but GC doesn't crash with an out of memory error....
