Download Invalid

By Posted February 15, 2009 18:08:16

I just bought Object Desktop for my daughter and installed impulse client against my better judgement in order to download the product I bought. Every attempt to download the components of OD results in an invalid download. Does someone want to explain to me where to download the product I bought or should I contact my State Attorney General Darrell McGraw (look him up) and have him eat Stardock?

Well now.

Let's see what we can doto get you fixed up before we call in the law.

Reinstall the most current Impulse client from here: Impulse Client - Full

Then if you still get an errror, turn off any security apps you may have running.

Make sure that BITS download service is turned off by clicking the Orb in the upper left, Preferences | Connections

If you still get an error, click on the ? in the upper left and open the log.  Post the last few errors here.

I installed Impulse using the full installer.

Very bad advice.

It was already turned off.

And the log says...

There is nothing on my system which would change the hash of a downloaded file except perhaps... Impulse. I don't know since there doesn't seem to be any other way to download the product I paid good money for.

Very bad advice.

The installer (Impulse) uses scripts from the internet to install the software. This is exeactly what security software stops. After the installation is complete and you reboot then enable the security software again. Windows Defender is one that causes me the most problems with installs.

I do not have any AV/AT/AS scanners running resident here. This is all beside the point. It is BS! I bought this program. It is paid in full. I demand satisfaction. Please provide an alternate means of download.

Then I advise you email support@stardock.com.  They will be able to work with you and take it from here

I installed Impulse using the full installer.
So, I'm guessing you didn't bother to uninstall, reboot, reinstall to see if possibly the 1st install had a small bork than might have been fixed...
Very bad advice.
And I'm guessing you didn't try that either... Now this:
or should I contact my State Attorney General Darrell McGraw (look him up) and have him eat Stardock?

hpguru ...although this forum section says 'Stardock Support' it is infact a forum where fellow users can assist with issues pertaining to Stardock software...from time to time there will be some.

Stardock's Support staff will often be online here to assist...but the Official Support is support@stardock.com where your problem can be resolved [appropriately during business hours, US-time].

The most likely cause for a failed download with Stardock software is the same as any other software download...an interrupted Internet connection, or 'unwanted' intervention from an installed AV program or firewall.

Temporary halting of such will often resolve things, though once you have a failed download you will need a cache clean [reboot] so as not to inadvertently 'redownload' the same corrupted file from cache....

You probably have a virus, if you don't have any AV/AT/AS scanner running. I recommend you install one.

Just to clarify, when support requests that you disable any security software, we suggest that you do so TEMPORARILY, and for diagnostic purposes.  If disabling your security software does not help with the situation, please make sure to re-enable it.  If disabling the software does help with the issue, we then suggest you try adding exceptions for the app being interfered with rather than disabling your security all together.

Couldn't have said it better myself, Troll. (you have no sense of humor, Paul)

I guess it would be a push to say this guy is an ass, heh?
