ACtivation issues.

By Posted November 10, 2008 21:43:05

I have recently reinstalled windows, and impulse and finished reinatalling galciv2 with current update. All three in fact, DL, DA, and ToA.

The games refuse to activate. I have triple checked all serial numbers, copy pasted them from the purchase confirmation email I recieved back in 7/07/08 ( I do not use outlook, I keep my email online ) I have verified that I am using the right email address. And still nothing. Is activation on the fritz?

What error are you getting when you try?

November 10, 2008 23:34:15

sdactivate in notepad opens up and says over and over again

ANd I have done as it suggest. Sometimes it says Download: failed HttpSendRequest at others its a success in both cases it fails to activate.

no other errors messages appear. I still use XP, if that matters.

PS. Although it may at this point look like I bought a used game. I did not. It was the digital download bundle I got from impulse. On previous install of windows I have had the game running ( when it was not crashing ). And the email I am using now matches the email I used then when I was able to activate it. There better be a good reason for this, because I did not rent this game and I own it.

additional information. I log into the same username and password with same email address as before. I noticed somewhere that IP address is logged at time of activation. Well I have a dsl service that changes my IP address as often as I change my socks, so if thats it, that is a shody security method. I ruled out the problem of trying to reactivate because any new install will require it. Also the serial number impulse gives me matches that of which is in my initial email after purchase.

what does "Using silent activation will null serial mode" mean? is that related to the silent mode the game or impulse is using to activate it?

I did notice that at www.impulse.net when I log in there and go to registrations, it changes it each time I go to that page, and yeah those do not work either.

I've had exact same issue with activation failing (and have emailed support the logfile, which is idnetical to the above).   I purchases Galciv 2 complete collection etc.

This product really needs work to be up there with Steam/Metaboli download services... I had to trawl forums to figure out needed to disable DEP temporarily while another Impulse bug is fixed.

All I want to do is play the games I've purchased...!

Well, I'm experiencing exactly the same problem mentioned above -- with GalCiv2 and both of the expansions. And I've also recently reinstalled Windows.

Well.. It would be nice is someone from StarDock can fix this.

Similar issue.  When accessing http://www.galciv2.com/CollectorsEdition/index.aspx

I get the error:

Error 0: 0

* Your GalCiv II Serial Number was not registered. Please check your number and try again.

I verified my serial number through Stardock's automated email, and tried re-registering through both SDC and Impulse.

We had been experiencing some technical difficulties with our activation servers the last couple of days.  So Please try again.

Davabled: Activation result: 12 is an error stating the email address you have entered does not match the serial number that is on recorded.

If anyone is still having difficulties with Activation please email support@stardock.com and provide them with the following information:

What product you are attempting to Activate:
What application are you using to attempt the activation, ie; Impulse, MyColors or the product directly
What Serial Number and Email address are you using to register/activate with.
What error messages are you receiving.
