Kudos to impulse, we love it! and don't let the tin foils put you off!

By Posted August 10, 2008 18:54:13

I am seeing thread after thread of people claiming to hate impulse, mostly via wild tin foil hat theories such as "impulse COULD be spyware even if it everyone insists it isn't" or "impulse COULD potenatially be DRM even though it isn't" with about as much logic and science as the radio brainwashing theories.

So. Here is a thread for people to give a shout out to our friends at SDC and remind them those are just some few weirdoes. Chime in and let stardock know you love impulse.

I love impulse!

"..wild tin foil hat theories..."     hehe....made my day!

I often wonder if anyone ever actually wore a "tin-foil hat" or if it's another example of something so strange/funny it just had to be turned into a "saying"....lol

On a serious note....SD you're great! Behind you 100%, keep up the good work

Impulse is a great step forward. I find the update process and installation of new software is rather slow and hopefully that will improve in future releases

Here's to the silent majority.
Impulse is awesome. They just don't realize it yet.

Does aluminum foil count?

Yes, yes, let us heap the praise upon the Stardock. These nay-sayers are getting too vocal, (wait... there is no sound in print), too typee, yea thats the ticket. Impulse is just fine. I have had no problems with it, that weren't of my own stupidity. Kitkun, is it pronounced 1.(al loo min um) or 2.(al you min ium) where you live? One spelling, two ways to say it, you just have to love the spoken word.

Now for some gentle reminders to those who hate Impulse....

1. If you live in the deep woods, your can and string won't download fast enough.
2. Your Tandy Computer needs to be upgraded, might I suggest a hammer.
3. As much as I loved DOS, I upgraded, you should try it too.
4. If computers are too complicated for you, try blocks.
5. The Impulse official support thread is there for a reason, you don't need to start one just for you. (You are not that important...really.)
6. Stardock builds software to make Microsft software more appealing, they are approved by Microsoft to do just that. So why would they not use IE7?
7. Just like a car, your computer needs good drivers.

Once again, let me say, Impulse is good, whining is bad. Sarcasim is my way of saying grow up and act like an adult in a civilized world. Have a good day.

Many of the comments made in this thread are quite ignorant. Just count yourselves lucky impulse works ok for you. I'm quite happy with SDC and Stardock in general - but Impulse has been a major pain in my ass. I'm still having intermittent problems with it and use SDC when possible instead.

Feel free to flame me I couldn't care less. I earn a living building and repairing computers - guess I'm to dumb to figure impulse out loondenhur...

LMAO

But for the record . .my Tandy still works and is still used.

Sarcasm.

Works is a feat. But what in the world do you use it for?

You should read the anti-Impulse ones then. Many are the epitome of stupidity, ignorance and/or misinformation.A rather whiny bunch, but they still had their say.I used to be confused, now I'm just amused. Some of us happen to like Impulse and don't mind saying so.

.my Tandy still works and is still used.

I don't have a Tandy, but I did buy this HP at Radio Shack.

And I met a woman who slept under aluminum foil to keep radio waves from space from beaming through her while she slept.(true story)

But what in the world do you use it for?
It's super light, starts instantly, lasts for days on a battery.
I bought it back in 1990 for university.  I was the only person at the school that had anything close to it.

A bunch of the PBX phone guys I know still use them to connect to their systems.

I have nothing fundamentally against Impulse, but as long as SDC works better for what I need (namely, downloading and updating Stardock titles) I'm not going to bother with Impulse. I tried to install GC2 with it earlier today and got an error message. Attempts to track down the source of that error failed. Why bother to continue trying to resolve an artificially created issue? I just went back to SDC, and there I'll stay until forced to do otherwise. I've never understood early adopters anyway.

I've never understood early adopters anyway.

To find the problems to get them fixed so that late adopters don't have to.

About 90% of the complaints I've seen have been from the "whiny sissy bitchers and complainers" that are gamers.

And they're all playing that damned Sins game.

I'm a gamer, but I'm not among the "whiny sissy bitchers and complainers"

By the way, Impulse for the win.

Yase yase let us heap the praise upon the Stardock teh own z0r lol...

Just to throw a spanner in your works.

Recent advances in Eletromagnetic field propagation allow specialy designed equipment to force a human to do things such as move a legs, swing there arms, even remember things.

While its currently in the early stages with further advancement.. such as what an alien race would have.. it would be quite easily and possible to control a human fully.

Tin Foil happens to be when placed over the head act as a faraday cage and makes this alot harder to acomplish.

You did after all want to bring science into it....
Hell with all the eletromagnetic poloution around these days... it might actually be a good idea and reduce your risk of cancer.

Mmmm....tinfoil.....shiny.....
August 11, 2008 06:15:47
Hey! Don't you be makin fun of my tinfoil hat!
August 11, 2008 06:55:17
Aren't tinfoil hats supposed to improve reception?

Oh wait, my friends in the government tell me there's no truth to that whatsoever.

1. A super advanced alien civilization will send nano bots to reprogram your brain, and will be undetectable to humans.
2. if they did use such powerful radio waves, they will fry you (put a peice of meat in the microwave on high).
3. Alumium hats act as antenae and increase reception, so would an aluminium sheet. They need to build a faraday cage out of it to lower it. But I have yet to see someone make a net shaped contraption. They will be CERTAIN that the radio waves are going through the holes.
4. if you want to stop solar radiation, go with thick lead linings, heavy concrete and earth will work too.

I'm a bad person to comment on the apparent awesomeness of Impulse, because I have some sort of bug-repellant good luck charm on my PC so that most software bugs don't happen to me. Impulse has been working without a hitch even since beta.

Of course, my PC is also fairly up to date and I'm not trying to run it with any archaic components and/or drivers

But, as far as I'm concerned - good job Stardock

I want to personally thank you for your tireless assistence in the Impulse forums.

Leo,

We are working to bring up more servers to load balance.  Hopefully we will have another up this week and you should start to see some performance improvements with downloading updates.

Jafo, why does the cat have bigger antenae?

More importantly, why does it have the "I'm going to kill you, I swear" look on its face?
