ObjectDock Weather Docklet not working anymore

By Posted May 11, 2008 13:27:21

Hi all.

I had OD running for over one and a half years now and the weather docklet always worked. Since Thursday or Friday it only displays "Weather Information not Available". Is there somenthing wrong with weather.com?

I am also getting the "Internet not available" message when I attempt to use the weather docklet for the past week nearly.  No changes to my system or firewall settings have been made. Using version 1.90 plus, build 535u.

Knoxville, TN here.  And guess what?  Internet not available.  Yet, somehow I'm miraculously able to post this message.  Go figure.  I really hope they figure out what the problem is.  I'm by no means a prgrammer.  So, I need step by step instruction on what to do about this.  Any susggestions would be appreciated.  [e digicons][/e]

My  educated guess as a daily user of OD is that there is an issue with accuweather dot com,not a problem with ObjectDock or the docklet. This has been an infrequent but annoying error ever since I started using OD. The problem will get ironed out in time.

Patience everyone, and no need to uninstall/reinstall anything or reload the docklet.(It won't help anyway)[e digicons]:sun:[/e]

I have to agree with Wizard1956.  Just guessing but, I have a feeling accuweather changed something with either the way the docklet gathers data from them or the server that it is supposed to contact isn't responding as it should.  No big deal really since it is just as easy to open the accuweather.com site and get the info that way.  For me, it was just another little feature that looked nice if I wanted the info without all the typing, such as when I am making plans for my weekend visits with my son. Kind of helped knowing what to expect and if there was a possibility of foul weather.

Hey everyone, go to this thread and follow the instructions on replacing the weather ocx file. I had replaced mine  a year ago and it fixed my problem then. I just replaced it again and now the weather is working!   LINK

New to Vista, can someone point me in the right direction to 'stardockweather.ocx' I only seem to find 'weatherdocklett.dll.

April 17, 2009 16:20:49

Philly,use this

http://sd.stardock.com/ken/stardockweather.ocx

to download the ocx file, then put it into C:\Program Files\Stardock\ObjectDock

Piilly,

Its in the Object Dock Folder itself.  If you click on any other folder like docklets or background folder you have gone to far.

Try closing OD then opening it again Doc.

April 17, 2009 16:34:28

Nope...but, good try. Thanx.
Know where I can find: StardockWeather.ocx?

*Solved! Found stardock.ocx, downloaded and put on OD Program file, closed and reopened the OD+

and *poof....there it was working. Wonder why it wasn't there before all this?

Worked for me on Vista Ultimate 64 (of course had to copy to Program Files (x86)\Stardock\ObjectDock\stardockweather.ocx on that operating system).  Thanks.
