Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

By Posted November 15, 2007 21:29:55

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be...

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for another 80 octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 21 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 43.4% of this galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for almost 16 months running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

kzin6

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

If your claws can grasp it, then it is rightfully yours. - Kzinti proverb

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

Okay so, now what should I do for a campaign for the mod.

September 26, 2008 12:41:42

~counts the minutes~

GAH!!!!  5 hours until I get home and start downloading the 2.0 beta.  I realy hope I can get into a groove here at work so time will go faster (seemingly, since time is a static value, sort of the horrid statement "quick second".  There is no such thing as a "quick second" each one is similar...).

If you're home Seth, you can hop on the beta train and start playing with the new outside of game ship designer, or new planetary improvement governer or even get us (me) some feedback on espionage 2.0.

September 26, 2008 12:49:11

Nah I'm gonna wait till it comes out. Also I have just begun working on the mod, I already have the Kzinti, Geckodons and Raiders finished. Now I am going to start working on some scinarios and maps.

September 26, 2008 17:38:35

September 26, 2008 17:42:48

I'm just going to stay out of the whole thing, seeing as how I joined in the middle of it (and making a forum-entrance by requesting the ban or sanctioning of another forum-member is bad, either way you swing it ). I hope a satisfying descicion is reached, though.

I guess this is directed at Seth and KP.  A question concerning the roleplaying that the younger generation seems to enjoy seperately from our gaming.

Is it neccesary for Seth or anyone else to give up the unrelated roleplaying that they seem to enjoy in Harborne's empire thread?  It doesn't seem like it needs to be the case.

Even if Harborne's actions have been dubious and his honor has been razed, his empire thread adds some value to all of us by having a single place to host the roleplaying without the need for it to spill over to other threads.  Even I, who can't understand the value of this extreme roleplay, can see the value in having such a single repository for those games.

September 26, 2008 18:56:09

Sounds very reasonable to me MarkWarren.

I'm intending to only provide the info so people who are interested can take a look if they want, and make up their own minds.  I think many people werent aware of what had been going on.

the Kzinti don't have 'alliances' as such; just prey that they leave to eat on another day.   Take it as you will, but if they don't eat youtoday, well that at least gives you a chance to find a nice corner to cower in, hoping that you can escape the Kzinti's hunting skills

Quite true...  The Kzinti have races they are more friendly with, but still war with even them on ocassion.  Everyone is fair prey.    Competition through honorable battle is the way of the universe!

I wouldnt call it necessary in any sense, but it is a way for those who engage in the roleplaying to send a message to Harborne, who loves the roleplaying aspect.  Showing him that the cheating will affect even that aspect of his GC2 experience may indeed be another way to motivate more ethical decisions on his part.

Now, to move onto other matters: Woo! ZYW!

September 26, 2008 19:51:39

Nope

So i can't ok thats going to be hard then.

September 26, 2008 20:26:08

Question-because I figure you guys will know.

I'm considering running some ZYWs on one char, and some "real" games on another char.  This is an intent, not a guarantee, so don't be surprised if I don't wind up posting an MV game for another six months.

My question is whether there is a restriction on two or three of the three character slots that a person has being in the same empire.  This seems to me to be a separate issue from what has been discussed above, but I thought I'd ask regardless.

September 26, 2008 21:06:18

All three of your chracters can be in the empire Sole Soul.  I'll send out an invite to the secondary one.   If anyone has any questions about ZYWs, just ask.  I had my best ZYW win game today with a score of 100,450!

Mine was 16K, so I'm right behind you, KP I tried creating a bunch of life support+basic engine hulls to put around the computers planets, waiting to be upgraded into spore ships. With the one I won, my opponent only had three planets though. I won by April something, so it wasn't bad I just need to get it rolling properly, since I couldn't start sporing until April.

September 27, 2008 03:53:56

Harborne has removed the last illegal characters from his empire and has incorporated his sister's account into his.  He asked me to post this information here since he can't post in this thread.

I checked the account and it looks legit.  I believe we can consider the matter closed.

@ Seth - As an aside, I don't think you need to boycott Harborne's thread any further since the problem is behind us.  I'm sure he'll welcome you back there should you return.

I bet you'll get the strategy down cold pretty quickly. [e digicons][/e]

Very good to hear Motti.   You deserve a big thanks for your assistance in resolving the issue!

Hopefully this is the last of it.

KP reply #1885

Yikes...100 spies! How much did it cost to get 1 spy at that point? Yep, I dont think passive spies can be countered. Not sure what my opinion is about that.

BOOM reply necromancy at it's finest!

Just completed my first 2.0 beta run as the Alterians.  They were my control test and I got no anomolies, so espionage skill stayed at 0%.  My 100th spy cost me 11,962 bc, overall costs of 100 spies was 561,053.  These numbers are very not nailed down since 1% clicks of my income gives for a huge sway in bc most of that time.  In the end I was POCKETING 8k a week even after the 20k treasury hit.  During the econ event I was pocketing 24k lol.

Passive spies cannot be countered, but it doesn't matter IMHO since tech stealing is still done via planetary spies...so you still have a defense there.  In the many many years that I had passive spies on the 2 AI's in the game, not 1 tech was stolen.  Also, any passive spies that are on a race that gets destroyed are lost, unlike their active cousins which get refunded.

Good to see that Harborne has finally seen fit to do the right thing. It might be my suspicious nature but i'd still like Cari to explore all the charcters in the GSC and be sure there are not others we have missed. I see alot of names that seem familiar and would rather the GSC be checked over thoroughly. As they say, where there is smoke there is fire......

Im exceptionally happy though to see that the community bound togehter of the issue, especially the kind words i have recieved for my small part in the affair.
