Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be...

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for another 80 octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 21 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 43.4% of this galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for almost 16 months running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

If your claws can grasp it, then it is rightfully yours. - Kzinti proverb

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

Welcome to Empire Admiral_Prescott!  Show no mercy to the foes of the Kzinti!

Welcome indeed, Admiral_Prescott.  [e classic]:congrat:[/e]

As a Tyrant, no mercy is required nor given.  The corpses of our enemy as well as our slain lie and rot on the battlefield.  Makes for nice scenery and the crunching sound under our feet is simply delightful.  [e classic]:hot:[/e]

You've chosen well, Admiral_Prescott.  May your conquests be many and may your name strike fear into the quivering hearts of your grass eating foe.

On a personal note...My gigantic map is nearing the end.  No score tests, so it'll be whatever it is when I'm done.  I'm sure the Fanged God will be pleased though.  It's not looking too shabby.

Hopefully, this will be my last DL game for a while.  If Impulse 2 comes out on schedule, I'll have DL, DA and TA in my Kzinti profile and DL and DA in my Tyranny one.  TA has my curiosity, so a test game will be in order before long.

Everyone is out to get the Kzinti these days... What have the Kzinti done to you. Apart from attacking and enslaving your people, Pillaging your towns and scratching up your furniture. But i'd hardly call them a reason to hate us .

Just put double stick tape on the furniture it will keep the Kzinti away.

You'll be a full-service Kzinti warrior then!   I've got another game in the works too, which should be done by this weekend.  It's another huge all-abundant, which should score about 550k, unless I get luck with an economic boom, and then I'll take it to over 600k.

I'm just going to start referring to him/her as "Member No.3,123,140" and cut to the chase.  They may be a doppleganger, but they still have a barcode stamped on the back of their neck...

August 27, 2008 12:07:13

Hah! [e digicons]XD[/e]   If you do that, then he'll probably start using a borg avatar. [e digicons]:borg:[/e]

Earlier this week on the SciFi channel they had the TNG episodes with Lore & the rogue-borg.  I hadnt seen those before (surprisingly), so I wasnt aware of that part of the story.

I remember watching some TNG and alot of DS9, but I fell out of the Star Trek lineup after that.  Toss in some Babylon 5, Earth 2 and SG-1 and that was my sci-fi in the 90s.

The only thing that makes we want to watch Enterprise is the Vulcan.../sigh

August 27, 2008 12:17:48

Well, the avatar is a Hydralisk now...so it's getting fitting.

August 27, 2008 12:30:15

Yeah, I didnt like Voyager that much, and havent watched an episode of Enterprise.  DS9 was my favorite, because of the story archs that covered multiple seasons, and it was a bit darker than all the other Treks.  I remember the last episode when Sisco and General Martok are standing in the ruins of Cardassia Prime, and Martok says something stereotypically Klingon, toasting the "glorious victory" with a goblet of bloodwine, and Sisco refuses to drink as he looks upon the devastation and death.  Something like 800 million civilians were supposed to have died in the battle for Cardassia, with 1/3 of Starfleet's ships destroyed.

Ah yes.... [e digicons]ur:[/e]    This emoticon looks pretty pervy in that context...

Bablyon5 was awesome, for one of the same reasons as DS9.  They had the entire series plot planned out before they started doing any filming.

But for my favorite sci-fi series of all time, BSG takes the frakkin cake! [e digicons]:cylon:[/e]

I just wonder how good Caprica (BSG prequal) will be once it comes on.

I'm still trying to figure out WHERE on earth they landed.  I suck at landmarks, I saw some archways...but for all I know that could have been a subway station in NYC...

August 27, 2008 12:49:29

I'm cautiously eager about Caprica....I hope they will have many of the same writers from BSG.

I hadnt thought about that Loup.  I'll have to go back and look at that scene again.  If development continued as it is today though, by all probability it was on the site of a McDonalds, Walmart, or Starbucks.

Starbucks.

Hah!  I didnt even think about that...    I mean...ummm, it was a carefully crafted BSG reference.   Yep.    [e digicons]O:)[/e]

i'm not convinced that they landed on Earth and here's my thoughts why:

At the end of Season 3, when they show Earth in the Zoom shot; it is very obviously Earth, and with a very pristine looking atmosphere.

In the mid-break of Season 4, you actually never see the planet from space at all; and its very dreary.  After doing some checking, it turns out, from an astronomical perspective, a planet in orbit of Alpha Centauri would have almost a completely identical night sky (with a few minor exceptions) (think of it as looking north from your neighbors house down the street); also the Centauri system are main sequence G-type stars (same as Sol) so who knows

August 27, 2008 13:51:10

Interesting hypothesis...

If the nuclear holocaust had happened many decades or centuries in the past, the atmoshpere could have recovered sufficiently to have a normal visual appearance, from space at least.  And it was earth-like enough for the people to be able to breath easily, and they did not seem concerned about radiation levels.  As for dreary, they could have landed someplace like the site of London, which is often quite dreary.  A nuclear war would defintely enhance that feeling...

So who is the last frakkin cylon?  I've read quite a bit about different possibilities, and more people seem to be leaning towards Dualla than anybody else.  I'm skeptical though, because I'm not sure she is a major enough character for the revelation to have a sufficient dramatic impact.

Kzinti empire2.JPG Sentient species taste better...

August 27, 2008 14:00:49

well, Three said that the fifth was NOT currently among the fleet (only that 4 were, Tigh, Tyrol, Sam, and Tori); automatically disqualifying Dualla.  However, if you give some leeway into what she (Three) said, it still allows for Roslyn, Adm. Adama, Baltar, and a wide range of Viper pilots to be the final one (as they were all aboard the Basestar when Three made this comment).  Another hypothesis is that Starbuck is the Fifth Cylon, esp she did the whole "die" and resurrect thingy.

August 27, 2008 14:08:32

Never trust those cylons though, Three could have been lying.  Starbuck definitely seems like the most obvious candidate, but Ronald Moore has made comments more than once that it wont be any of the more obvious choices.  But again, he could be purposefully making misleading statements.  At this point I dont have any strong opinions because there are too many possibilities and conflicting bits of information.  Ah, the torment of wondering about the last Cylon!  [e digicons]:S[/e]    They're doing a really good job with keeping the possibilities open, and the truth secret.

I'd say it is Earth for the reason that the writers/producters said that since the show's main plot was to reach Earth and they would fullfill that plotline by the end of the series.  Now, they do have some more episodes to go.  So perhaps it IS Alpha Centari and then they learn this and move on to Earth from there after finding a clue.

This would mean though that Starbuck DIDN'T see Earth after she 'died'.

If this is AC, then what year do you think they'll reach Earth?  1980 or 2010?  The original, they appeared at Earth a year after of the date the finale aired, so the 1979 airing of the finale had them landing in 1980.

i'll take Mayweather, personally, but hey, whatever fries your taco [e digicons][/e]

Enterprise has its moments, but on the whole it was a pretty sad failure for the ST franchise.

i'm not convinced that they landed on Earth and here's my thoughts why:

good to relive old discussions, huh SB [e digicons]:X[/e]

(no, i don't know why i picked that smiley).

August 27, 2008 15:30:44

I think it would be somewhere far in the future.  From fossil records, Earth is clearly the origin of humanity.  Despite some gaps, there is a very good timeline for human evolution.  Genetic data also show how closely related we are to other Terran species, so humanity could not have been a transplant from some other world (unless every species was transplanted too).  So given that assumption, it would have to be after Earth had developed interstellar travel, spread out from Earth to colonize other worlds, then had a civilization crash of some sort (previous cylcon war?), and lost contact and knowledge of Earth.

A character I cant remember at the moment said, "All this has happened before, and will happen again," which backs up my theory.

Thats my thinking at least...
