Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

By Posted November 15, 2007 21:29:55

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be...

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for another 80 octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 21 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 43.4% of this galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for almost 16 months running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

kzin6

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

If your claws can grasp it, then it is rightfully yours. - Kzinti proverb

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

Behold, using my special strategy, I have managed to get 186,900, the highest score ever gotten using TA.

Congrats Seth!

Plus, it's just plain fun to toy with the Vegans/Paridians/etc. for a while and then obliterate them suddenly without any warning or apparent reason. Much like KP does with new Empires.....

Hello, I'm just introducing myself.  I'm Admiral Davis, and I wanted to say thanks to the Kzinti Empire for their invitation, to which I gladly accepted.

Welcome Admiral Davis! [e digicons][/e]   May the Fanged God favor you in battle!

Welcome Admerial, i'm maddyman. I'm also with the kzinti empire so you'll be seeing me round a bit. Praise KP (KzintiPatriarch) he's the one who sent the invite and would be happy to answer any question you may have... oh!, not meaning others in the empire won't answer you it's just not all of us keep up to date with day to day affairs in the kzinti empire.

Definitely ask any questions you may have, and someone will be sure to answer you pretty quickly.  Probably Sole Soul or Loupdinour, but occassionally someone else will slip an answer in first.

No, I've been sick this past week and a half.

Thanks again for the welcome.  And I do have a question.  I was thinking about downloading a couple of mods to break the monotony of my games(not that they've been getting boring, but a little change here or there is always nice).  What I was wondering is, can I still play games with mods and upload my scores from such games to the metaverse?  If yes, what are some mods you would recommend?

technically you can, but it will trigger a cheat flag. your score wouldn't be counted in the official MV, but it would be counted in the altmeta.

i recommend doing what you find most fun.

I dont do much at all with mods, because I play all Metaverse games, but there is a full Kzinti mod here in the Library.  AF_Ronin created it along with some imput from me.

i recently installed DA and have been testing different ARC's...in MV just in case i get lucky with a map.   in the current game the AI (4 suicidal) appear to be morons.  8/26 and only 23 planets have been colonized, most of them mine.  I sense "cheat flag".  i changed homestar, homeworld and super ability.  i've retired to make certain it's MV, but don't know what trips the flag.

do you have to submit to trip?  do i need to create another character to test the ARC settings?

February 25, 2009 19:43:11

I sense "cheat flag".

I sense "Ctrl + N resetting difficulty to Fool".

Homestar and SA don't trip it-I don't know if homeworld does, though.

Okay, thanks.  I want to continue to up my metaverse rank, so I'll stick with my old guns.  By the way, I think it's somewhat ironic that I've been winning games by military conquest even though I never build any ships besides constructors.  I really love the influential starbases.

And I was wondering, if game settings such as planet and star frequency affect my score.  I've been playing on gigantic maps with star and planet frequency set to rare, so that all the major races(including myself) only have the 2 colonizeable planets in their home system, while there is 1 system with 5 planets housing all the minors.  I like to play like that, because it makes it easier for me to stay competitive with the other races, as well as making it quite easy to conquer them via influence.

Heh, so I guess I'm asking, if there are more systems and habitable planets, does that in and of itself increase the points I will get by winning?

?

homeworld doesn't.  if i encountered a hole in the code, i wouldn't submit.  what trips the flag?  i want to test whether i made a error in edit.

To my knowledge, you haven't done anything that would trip a cheat flag.  However, even if you had, you have most definitely not done anything that would cause the AI to fail to colonize.  Tripping a cheat flag will not cause the AI to forget how to colonize.  The logical explanation for that phenomenon is that you've managed to get the AIs to reset their intelligence to Fool via using Ctrl + N (bug which supposedly got fixed).  If you haven't used Ctrl + N, then I don't know.

February 25, 2009 21:14:17

got cha'.  i did crtl n...several times.  would submitting a dbug help them find it or do they care at this point?

edit : jesum h jones, can you imagine the ctrl n's  happening out there now?

February 25, 2009 21:15:52

Hey Admiral Davis, do you have TA? Cause if so I'd like to share my strategy with you on how to get over 100k points. Also I'll give this strategy to only a few players but only those who struggle to get more than 20k points.

To be perfectly honest, I don't know.  I was under the impression the issue had been fixed in DA, so the question arises what version you're running (1.8, 2.0, etc).  It's also possible it was simply fixed for TA and failed to get backported.

It wouldn't seem to do any harm, though I'm not sure a debug would be sufficient; a savegame might be necessary.

But in answer to your question it's unlikely that it will be fixed at this point since/if it hasn't already, and since DL and DA are both essentially dead at this point.

February 25, 2009 22:01:35

version you're running (1.8, 2.0,
FYI, UE ver 2.01.   doubt SD would fix it.   at some point,  you have to cut and run.   it might even help UE sales.    thanks.

Unfortunately, I do not have TA.  I don't have either expansion pack yet.  I'm running the basic Dread Lords.  And unless I can find a job soon, or get some disability income, I won't be able to get the expansions anytime soon.

Hmmm, how can I get my awards/medals to show underneath my posts?

February 25, 2009 22:27:59

When you go to view one of your MV characters, click the "Default" button next to whichever character has the best stats. Every medal that character gets will go underneath your posts after that's done.

BTW, welcome to the forums and the MV.

It does not.  It is almost certainly the CTRL-N bug, which resets AI intelligence to fool.

The four major components of score are economy, military, social, and tech.  Having more planets will directly increase your social and econ score, because you'll have more people (social) and be bringing in more revenue (econ).  It will also help to increase the other two components as you'll also likely be producing more tech and more warships.  A key element in this is speed.  Try to increase any and all of these four score components as swiftly as possible and your overall score will also increase significantly.

Okay, that's what I figured.  What I've been doing is mass producing Constructors on my home planet to build influence starbases right next to the other civs planets, then I use their planets to increase my economy, research, and build more constructors.  I've been keeping the planets and systems to a minimum to keep the other civs from expanding and overwhelming me.  But my games have been getting quite easy as I've gotten better at doing this, so it's about time I either upped the difficulty again, and/or changed the settings.

I've got a little bit of shameless promoting that must be done...

...I strongly encourage all GC2 fans to come and check-out www.galciv2guide.com. It's a fairly new site with not a whole lot on it, but it's got a very nice structure to it, and, if more people sign-up, it will make for another very friendly atmosphere where GC2 fans/players can chat about the game, etc. If you're interested, just click the link above, go to the forums, and fill-out your registration. Thanks for putting up with some shameless promoting. Best Regards.

It was a terrible battle, the brave Kzinti warriors fought as best they could, but the enemy was using...... water balloons. They had no honor.

I've been working on my latest Swindle, trying to break 700k on a Huge map, and I think I'm going to do it.  Here's a shot of my econ at the height of my largest net BCs, during Year 3:

I managed to break 1 million net BCs.   I estimate the game will come in at over 750k!  Last score test at the end of Year 3 was 450,100.
