Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

By Posted November 15, 2007 21:29:55

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be...

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for another 80 octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 21 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 43.4% of this galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for almost 16 months running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

kzin6

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

If your claws can grasp it, then it is rightfully yours. - Kzinti proverb

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

Ta da! I now have a new gaming PC. Finally got the motherboard on monday. Stayed up waaaay too late.

Putting the hardware together wasn't a problem. Booted up right away. Getting XP Pro installed turned out to be a bit of a trick. I have SP1 (old) disk. The PC blue screened when it tried to boot from it? No PCI-Express driver for my video card! Had to create a "slipstream" disk image to burn a bootable disk with SP2 integrated. I found several good sites on the internet that described how to do that. It was a big help still having my old system up and running. Finally got XP installing, though formatting a 500Gb hard drive took a good long while. Got to desktop, and loaded the drivers for the motherboard. That got my network card driver installed. Rebooted. Had a bit of setup problems but finally connected the Internet. Phew!!!!  Lastly I restored my registrations for DL, DA, and TA in Impulse. It wasn't very intuitive, but finally figured it out. If you click on the stardock logo, in the far left hand corner of the the screen, you'll be given an option to add registrations. Soooooo, now they're installed.

Job done. Immense galaxies await.

Awesome!   I'll be upgrading my current system a bit over the next couple weeks.  I'll probably try out a gigantic all-abundant once I'm all set, and try to get as close to a million point game as I can.

Currently I'm playing The Witcher.  There a a few things I dont like about it, but overall its a very good game.  Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a RPG.  I'm most eagerly awaiting Elemental: War of Magic though!

Only (whine) 4 military,  (whine) 5 econ resources & lost 2,000 ships in upgrade from 1/1 (lazy) - after cleaning up all the stray ships I couldn't do another upgrade.  I guess they'll never fix the rally point bug.

You'll get the million with a gigantic all-abundant.   I've had 480 planets/16,500 ships & the speed isn't bad.  I run vista with 3g ram, quad processors & nvidia 8800 ..... I'm not technical but know graphics is the P I G.

I'm grateful for the "Swindle" write-up.  Very useful even though I'm probably the only person in the world (not to mention MV) still using 1.5 ...... want to see how far I can go with it before installing DA.

I have been working on a Geckodon ship exspansion pack that will include 5 new ship designs. One design I'm most proud of is a massive class of warship I call the Gigantosaurus, this type of ship is armed with the most powerful weapons avaible in the game (IE:Doom Rays, Black Hole Generators, ETC) as well as those weapons you can only gain by choosing evil as you race's ethnic. I will have a screenshot of it to show you guys.

@jacklv, an 8800 should me more than sufficient to run GC2, especially at more modest resolutions.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.  I'm pretty certain I can do it, but we'll see...  The Swindle wouldnt work as well in DA, but I'm sure certain elements would be quite useful.

Nice...you're getting a lot of practice with the ship editor Seth.  Looking forward to what you create.

Last night I submitted my 1st game from my new PC. It's my typical map. Medium, all abundant, 9 opponents, 8 minors. Wanted to compare this against the same setup I use to play on my old PC. Ferrel is very happy. The score came out to 140K, and put me into 1st place in the Altmeta Galactic Military category.

BTW. Sentient species really do taste better.

Excellent! [e classic]:congrat:[/e]   Do you have plans for trying a huge or gigantic all-abundant at some point?  I'm not sure what my next game will be, but most likely a huge all-abundant, where I'll try to break 700k.

Which reminds me, there's a Sins achievement called "Actually, HAL, I can do that" that you get by taking out four Hard AIs.

I laughed a little bit at it, but I'm honestly surprised the requirement isn't Unfair AIs.

Priceless.

Wonder what he has it do when it BSODs?

The Price is Right failure music, of course. Or maybe a Nelson laugh.

2 more hours...then a nice 10 day weekend.  I think I'll even get some GC2 time in.  Perhaps try to finish some of my DA/TA espionage guide, and maybe even an actual game ~gasps~.

*sigh*

I don't know whether to laugh...or to cry.

Since it was a BSOD, it was obviously rhetorical, but your response was definitely appropriate...

Hey Darth Evanesce, welcome to our empire thread!   That link on the Metaverse page has been broken for a long time, so I doubt it's going to get fixed.  But if you go to http://forums.stardock.com/ you will be able to do everything from there.  Here's to hoping you have a merry galactic xmas and get that expansion pack.
